I am delighted to welcome you to my website, please check out the sessions page to hear some stripped back live versions of some of the songs from my soon to be released debut solo album ‘Malody’. Those amongst you that are musicians might like to check out the PDFs of the scores for the original compositions.

The album was a long time in the making, the peculiar thing about debuts is that often the artist doesn’t realise that the songs that they are writing will ever become part of an album, the creative seeds gradually grow and suddenly it becomes apparent that a fully formed collection of songs has been born. This was true in this case and also true of the debut of The Futureheads. Perhaps this is why debut albums can have a certain innocent yet powerful energy about them.

I’m still organising a release for the record, and wait (sometimes impatiently) with excitement for the eventual opening of the proverbial cage. I want Malody to be set free and allowed to take on a life of it’s own, it deserves to see the world and I will travel with it. My intention with this batch of songs was all about finding depth of expression and the piano is a perfect enabler of this. The piano is the instrument of instruments and must rank highly as one of humanities greatest inventions. Combining it with orchestral instrumentation has been the most challenging and rewarding musical adventure of my life.

I can’t wait (but will have to) for the day when you can hear what I have done.
